Children

My children are pretty funny. The other day I said to them "why don't you guys go outside and play in the backyard." Any normal child would jump at the opportunity, but my kids said it was too hot outside. I think it was probably 22 outside, not even that hot. They do love being outside, however when it gets the slightest bit warm they start to complain about it. Well I found a solution that works for all of us. The other day I took them to the Legislature. I got to get some sun on my white legs and they got to play in the water and feel cool even though it was hot out. I swear they could have played in the water all day long, especially Owen. He is my outside child, he loves to be outside no matter the weather, which is good because he also likes to be moving non-stop, so being outside is great for him.
The unfortunate thing is that I don't feel like I can take all 4 kids by myself to the Legislature, thankfully my sisters could come that time, but in the future I will have to find someone else to come with me. On occasion I feel brave enough to take the kids on outings by myself, but it always has to be close to home incase I can't deal with them and we have to pack up and leave.
What have I learned from this blog?
I just need to suck it up and ask for help, so we can all enjoy the days that are warm because they don't last forever.

Not surprised

Well I'm not surprised Brody hurt himself again. He seems to be one tough little guy, but still gets hurt pretty bad. On Thursday I was leaving the house and Brody wanted to follow me or say good-bye and came running after me, he tripped on the rug at the front door and fell and hit his head on either the screen door or the door jam (I didn't see it so I'm not sure). Well he split his head open pretty bad. There was blood to start off, but after not too long it was just a gaping hole. I took him to the hospital and the whole way there he kept saying "I don't want stitches." Yes he has had stitches already. When he was about a year and a half he pulled my sewing machine down on his forehead and split it open. He still has a scar from that. When we got to the hospital it was packed in emerg. We waited for about 6 hours and then finally got taken to a room in the Stollery area, but still had to wait there for about an hour. Good thing I had my camera to pass the time. Brody was such a trooper. He ended up getting 3 staples. They told us it would heal better than stitches. I originally told him that after we were done I'd take him to Wendy's.......I didn't realize we would be getting out of the hospital at midnight. So I took him to Tim Horton's instead and he was fine with that. What have I learned from this? Well, I have learned that this being the second time Brody has been in the hospital thus far, when taking a child to the hospital quickly pack lots of items. Food, camera, money, extra clothes, sweater for yourself (it's cold in there), cell phone, some sort of small gaming system would be handy, and lots of PATIENCE.
On the way to the hospital I tried to distract Brody with his favorite song, and it worked. Too bad I taped it sideways, sorry.

Having Fun

I've learned that sometimes you need to take time and be silly and have fun. I always have fun when I'm with my family. They keep things hilarious. Recently Jay went out of town for work and my sisters Rachel and Becky slept over and help me out with the kids. It was nice to have them.
One night we ate ice cream and did face masks. We tried to get a good picture of all three of us but I don't know if we captured it. It was fun though.
Those little times when I can just relax and have fun keep me going. Thanks girls.
So take some time to laugh and to be silly.

My first post

Hello all, I know our family has a blog (which I never use) but I wanted to have one where I can use it kind of as a journal for myself and let all my lady friends know what things I am learning as a mother and wife.

I have learned long ago that when you're tired it is hard to give all of yourself.
Unfortunately I can't control my sleeping habits right now with a 3 month old and 3 other small children. It takes a lot of effort to control my crankiness and moodiness when I haven't gotten enough sleep. I often don't control those things very well, but I am looking for any advice you have on actually getting to sleep. I find my mind runs wild with what I need to do the next day and other things I might have going on at that time. I have never tried anything like relaxation techniques or meditation, but I think I might be willing to give it a try. What do you think?

Don't worry all you people that are thinking..."she will never again write on this blog"....well you're wrong. One of my friends told me she sets aside a time each week to write on her blog, so that is what I'm going to do. Till next time....
